Led by Experience

The Instructus Board of Trustees is made up of senior representatives from multiple sectors. Each Trustee volunteers their time and expertise to ensure that we deliver on our remit as successfully as we possibly can. As the Board of Trustees for the wider Instructus group, they also work to steer and develop our charitable programmes.

Nigel Hopkins

Nigel is an experienced Non-Executive Director, with other current positions including the Chair of the Audit Committee of Places for People, NED at MHS Homes in Kent, and Chair of Social Finance’s End of Life Care Integrator.

This is in addition to his extensive executive career in international blue-chip and regulated businesses, and his role in the Welfare to Work sector (Remploy), working for the UK's largest provider of jobs for people with disabilities. He also acts as a consultant in senior living for various housing associations.

Nigel likes being a Trustee and Chair of the Instructs Group due to our mission of helping to develop people's skills; both on a personal level, and through work - both areas he is very passionate about.

Nigel is married and lives in St. Albans. He has a dog, Brodie, and loves to travel and ski. Wine and food feature as well...

Judith Norrington

Judith has extensive experience in vocational education and skills, and has always been a strong advocate for learners and learning. She was formerly a Group Director of Policy, Research, and Regulation at City & Guilds and the Director of Curriculum and Quality at the Association of Colleges, representing the further education sector at a governmental level. She is also a trustee for Sport Leaders UK (SLQ).

Judith has directed a number of national projects including the Inclusive Learning and Basic Skills Quality Initiatives and has led various national award schemes championing innovation, excellence, and unsung heroes. More recently, she has also worked as an independent skills consultant.

Judith enjoys being a trustee for the Instructus group because of our strong focus on personal development and the many ways in which we support individuals to fulfill their potential.

Judith has a son and lives in Suffolk. She enjoys travel, theatre, and swimming.

Ros Allen

Rosalyn’s expertise covers strategy, business development, marketing, communications, policy management, and procurement across education, employment, and training services in the UK and international markets, having held leadership and management roles in private, PE, and public listed companies.

Rosalyn is currently Director of Marketing and Communications for Ingeus, part of global human services provider APM Group. Prior to this, she was UK Executive for Sales and Marketing at APM UK. Rosalyn has also worked as was Sales Director at Interserve Learning & Employment, a UK top-five apprenticeships provider where she also led the best performing Apprenticeship Advice for Schools contract, and as Head of Strategy and Policy at 'Superbrand' learndirect, the UK's largest skills and top-five global e-assessment provider. She has also held senior roles for leading employability and skills providers including JHP Group and intraining.

Rosalyn has written white papers and been part of multiple ministerial working groups and strategic committees for policy and programme design, as well as UK knowledge exchanges to Europe and the United States.

Judit Seymour

Judit runs her own risk consultancy company. She trains senior leaders at financial services companies in East Asia, the Middle East, and Africa in understanding, managing, and embedding a positive risk culture. In her executive career, she was a commercial barrister specialising in insolvency law for eight years before segueing into risk management in financial services, where she spent over 20 years. She worked at the board level at Assured Guaranty Ltd. and an FTSE 100 Bank.

Judit wanted to use her executive experience in risk management, culture change, finance, and governance in organisations which make a direct positive impact on communities. To achieve this she has built a non-executive portfolio focused on education (University of Bedfordshire, Bedford Girls’ School, The Harpur Trust, Heritage Crafts Association) and the justice system (Bedfordshire Police and Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire Magistrates’ Court). Her areas of expertise in these organisations are risk & audit, strategy, change management, and governance.

Judit is married with two sons and two dogs and lives in Bedford. She is an avid knitter with several published patterns.

Richard Traish

Richard is a Business Development Director for the UK’s leading healthcare pathology provider. He is also a consultant to the retail, consumer products, and healthcare industries, with a specialisation in business strategy and operational performance. Richard has over forty years of experience in consumer industries and has led major change transformations to improve employee capabilities and competencies.

Of particular interest to Richard is creating environments where people can discover and develop their talents. He wants to give people the opportunity to both realise their personal achievements and make a positive impact on the world around them.

Richard has been a Trustee for two years and is committed to growing the charitable programmes that Instructus has identified within its strategy.

Emma Rush

Emma has over 25 years of marketing experience working in leading advertising and digital agencies in London. She has helped to build and grow iconic brands such as the BBC, RNLI, Royal Mail, and the Open University, and held a number of senior management roles. She is President for gyro UK, an award-winning global B2B agency.

Emma is passionate that young people have equal access to opportunities to enable them to pursue their ambitions. She has supported apprenticeship schemes in her own businesses, ensuring greater social inclusion.

Emma has been a Trustee for 2 years and is proud of the charitable projects Instructus have supported to date.

Alice Cooper

Alice studied Psychology before starting her career by qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and specialising in working with Financial Services clients. She later joined the Skipton Building Society Group and took on a range of senior roles in Risk, Strategic Planning, and Information.

After a very positive experience of Executive Coaching, she completed coaching training for herself and now works as a freelance Executive & Career Coach. Alice is a Non-Executive Director within the NHS, and a Trustee of Instructus, and several other local charities.

Alice enjoys the chance to bring her skills to play in supporting Instructus’ commitment to developing people to achieve their full potential, through apprenticeships, skills training, and our charitable programmes.

Alice has a young family and enjoys being an active member of her local church community. She sings with a local award-winning choir.
