In January the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) communicated that there would be a delay to upcoming SASE apprenticeship framework withdrawal dates. This related to apprenticeships scheduled for removal in Batches 4 and 5.
Last week the ESFA confirmed the following (as per our previous guidance):
“We will not be withdrawing the listed frameworks or further frameworks until 2020. By 2020 we expect that employers and providers will have completed the transition, and that all starts will be on standards, so all frameworks will be withdrawn to new starts at that point.”
“This announcement does not remove the power of issuing authorities to withdraw frameworks when they believe that they are no longer needed.”
This confirms that:
- There will be no further framework closures before 2020 (specific date to be confirmed).
- Frameworks in Batches 4 and 5 are no longer scheduled for mandatory removal until 2020.
- Frameworks announced in Batches 1-3 and those already withdrawn or with a published, confirmed delayed withdrawal date will be removed as planned.
At this point Instructus has no plans to withdraw any frameworks before 2020; however, we welcome any feedback from employers, training providers, and awarding organisations. Contact us to discuss your frameworks ⇢
